WHAT IS LIFE

it is a cake
but not all can bake
it is a gift to take
to some though it is a journey to make

life is an errand
it should be done to completion
without lamentation
and hesitation

take care of God's creation
with careful consideration
not due to anger and frustration
one should live with a little moderation

in life some live in self pity
dejected in the city
heart-broken some mull over suicide
to vent their anger some commit homicide

at times it gets so tough
till you say it's enough
even bosom buddies can be dubious
like a fox they can be so devious

everything goes down to the wire
you will get into the fire or
sink deep into the mire
but never,never raise your ire

by the riverside

when there is too much to bear
when am burdened with a load of care
by myself am always there
to draw in the flagrant air

there;where the river whispers so softly
where there is a steady splash of water
where the noise of the cascade's downpour isn't deafening
there;the dead leaves whisper under my feet

even when the sun disappears in the woods
and it becomes so dull and gray
i hear the buzzing of insects
and the singing of birds calm my frayed nerves

as the river gently flows
i mull over life's deathly blows
as the sun dimly glows
i think of memories so distant

there i feel so safe
because my mind doesn't wander
there is nature's awesome wonder
there am so divine
because everything is mine

on the balcony

on a sunny afternoon
on a storied flat
on the balcony
i can see and hear them all

talking
walking
hawking
honking

one may think they are running away from something
they are running away from nothing

a car whizzes past
aghast!
it nearly hit a child
it screeches to a halt
''Sura mbaya wewe'',the driver backs at helpless child
a sea of impatient and discoursing humanity
long lines of fuel guzzling creatures
from the balcony i hear and see them all
